Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that strengthens tooth enamel and makes it more resistant to acid from bacteria in the mouth. A professional fluoride treatment applies a concentrated form of fluoride directly to the teeth, where it absorbs into the enamel over the following hours.

Is Fluoride for Adults Too?
Yes. Adults benefit from fluoride especially if they have a history of cavities, dry mouth, gum recession that exposes root surfaces, or are undergoing certain medical treatments. Dr. Sandhu will let you know if a higher-strength fluoride or a take-home supplement makes sense for your situation.
